The superb starling (Lamprotornis superbus) is a bird of the starling family native to East Africa. It is 7.1 to 7.5 inches long.
Superb starlings mostly feed on the ground, eating insects such as ants, termites, beetles, grasshoppers, and flies. It also eats fruit, worms, and grains. They like to feed in the vicinity of acacia trees.
Superb starling breeding season can vary in different places. In Ethiopia it lasts from October to February. In Somalia, it lasts from March to June. Spherical nests of grasses and twigs are built in bushes, in trees, and rock crevices. 3-4 eggs are layed and are incubated for 12 days.
