The Rock Ptarmigan (Logapus muta) is a species of Ptarmigan from Northern parts of Eurasia and America. In the summer both genders are a dull brown but will change to a bright white coating in the winter respectively. In between both seasons they are a combination of both white and dull brown as they transition through the two main coats. The feathers on the birds legs allow it to walk on snow without having to worry about sinking.
