The Pallas's Cat is the only living species of the Otocolobus genus. It is also called Manul.

Appearance[]

The cat has stocky big fur and has round face and set apart ears.

Behavior[]

Pallas's cat is a solitary animal that is primarily crepuscular but can be active at any time of the day or night. For shelter it uses caves, rock crevices or abandoned burrows of other animals such as of marmots, foxes and badgers.

Diet[]

The Pallas' Cat are carnivores and eat mainly small rodents, including gerbils, voles, hamsters, pikas and small marmots. They will also eat small lizards and birds. They ambush their prey rather than chasing it, often waiting at the exits of rodent burrows or even sticking their paws in to try to scoop out their prey.

Lifespan[]

It is recorded that they live up to 11 years in captivity.
