Otter Falls is an outdoor exhibit at the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead, New York. It was founded in 2008 and is home to two North American River Otters one adult female, Jelly, and her son, Stark, born on February 16, 2013.
Jelly and Stark are highly active and curious North American river otters. They are tons of fun to watch! These playful creatures will chase each other, jump, wrestle, slide on their bellies on snow and ice, and spend lots of time grooming.
Jelly and Stark get fed twice a day; once at 1:30 pm and once at 3:30 pm. The trainers hold a shield in front of them for safety because these are wild animals and they don't touch them. They train the animals to target, circle and inspect their paws. The otters get fed capelin, trout and smelt.
