Newfoundland Wolf (Canis lupus beothucus) is an extinct subspecies of grey wolf that was native to Newfoundland. It is also called the Newfoundland White Wolf. The Newfoundland Wolf settled in Newfoundland since before the last ice age. It was extinct in 1911.
Description[]
The Newfoundland Wolf is large white animal that can measured up to 6 feet long and weighed up to 100 pounds. It has a larger skull with a elongated snout.
Extinction[]
When humans arrived to Newfoundland, they see that the wolf as competition, trappers and hunters massacred these animals with the government's blessing, wiping out the majority. Years later the Caribou population dropped, and whatever wolves were left slowly starved.
Possible sightings[]
In 2012, the hunter named Joe Fleming who accidentally shot and killed a wolf in Newfoundland which means that the Newfoundland Wolf might still be alive.
