Nelson is a male Sumatran tiger that lives at Australia Zoo located in the Australian state of Queensland on the Sunshine Coast near Beerwah/Glass House Mountains.
He was born on June 3, 2019, to his mum, Kaitlyn, and dad, Ranu, who live at the Tiger Temple.
Nelson is growing up very quickly, putting on about a kilogram of weight each week; that's because he loves his milk. He's still getting used to life around the zoo, so his carers keep a very close eye on him while he explores and gets up to all sorts of mischief - he's only a cub after all.
Nelson knows that he has a very important role as an ambassador for wild tiger conservation. Pretty soon, he will be meeting guests at Australia Zoo, to help raise much needed funds that will go back into supporting the anti-poaching patrol units, who protect his wild cousins.
Nelson can't wait to get big enough to start hanging out with the other big tigers and play in the huge pool they have at the Tiger Temple. For the moment he will just concentrate on being the cutest animal at Australia Zoo.
