Megalonyx jeffersonii (Also known as the Jefferson's Ground Sloth) is a genus of extinct giant sloth that lived in North America during the pliocene to the pleistocene epoch. It went extinct because of a virus that lived inside a cave while the sloth was sleeping.
Appearance
Megalonyx had long arms and sharp claws for ripping off branches and twigs for food like the leaves.
Description
The Jefferson's ground sloth was like Megatherium, Nothrotheriops, and other ground sloths, but it was smaller and had a barrel-shaped body.
