The Jaguar is a specie of Panthera. It is the largest cat in the Americas. It lives in N. South America, down to Peru and Argentina. Central America is also within its range. There is a small population in S. Arizonia. It grows to 7 1/2 in. including tail.It is 28-30 in. at the shoulder. It weighs 132-264 lbs. It resembles the Leopard but with larger rosettes. It lives in rainforest, flooded forest, and swamps. It reaches sexual maturity at 2-4 yrs. It usually has 2 young. It has a birth interval of 2 yrs. It has a gestation period of 93-107 days. It eats deer, caiman, turtles, primales, rodents, capybara, and farm livestock. It is consitered as vulnerable. Mainly due to habitat loss and illegal poaching.
