The Ganges river dolphin is a rare freshwater species found in a few rivers in India, Bangladesh and Nepal. It has never been fully studied in the wild and it's behaviour is largely unknown. Besides natural predators, this dolphin is also threatened by human activity in the form of increasing water traffic, water pollution and fishing nets. There are approximately 4,000-6,000 individuals.
