The Common Hoopoe (Upupa epops) is the most wide spread hoopoe in the world and is also known as the Eurasian Hoopoe. The word "hoopoe" comes from a variant of hoopoop which comes from Early Modern English hoop which comes from Middle French and Old French huppe which is descended from Latin upupa which is ultimately imitative of the bird's call. It is the sole member of it's family Upupidae. It looks for insects and larvae by sticking it's bill into soft earth, debris and dung. It reuses old nests from year to year.
