Elegant crested tinamous are birds that live in the deserts and grasslands of southern South America. They are smaller birds that grow a little larger than a foot tall and weigh 14 to 20 ounces. They are black with white spots and they have light stripes behind and below their eyes. These birds typically live in small or medium sized groups through woods and brush as they are a shy species of Tinamou.
