Cave Hyenas are an extinct subspecies of spotted hyenas that existed throughout the Pleistocene. Found in the Iberian Peninsula to eastern Siberia.

It coexisted with Neanderthals in various parts of Europe. They competed with them for food, stole their kills and sometimes preyed on certain individuals.
