The Cardinal jumper, (Phidippus cardinalis), is a species of jumping spider. It is one of the species of jumping spiders which are mimics of mutillid wasps in the genus Dasymutilla (commonly known as "velvet ants") several species of these wasps are similar in size and coloration, and possess a very painful sting.
