The Blue-throated bee-eater (Merops viridis), is a species of bee-eater in the Meropidae family. It is found in Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.
Subspecies Merops viridis americanus of the Philippines is sometimes considered a distinct species, the rufous-crowned bee-eater (Merops americanus).
