Animal Database does not have an official set of rules, except for the individual rules of the admins. An official set of rules would be helpful, especially to clear up confusion and conflicts across the wiki. Below, I have attached some ideas for the wiki guidelines. You opinions are greatly appreciated.
- Articles should be original, meaning they are rewritten so it is not plagiarizing the source. This is because (1), you are invalidating the effort the author put into writing the source, and (2), it gives readers no reason to visit Animal Database when they can recieve information from the source editors plagiarized from. I see this a lot on this wiki, especially when people copy-paste from Wikipedia. However, you may copy-paste articles y…

We are not interested in adding any articles to categories involving movies, TV series or any other similar media. This wiki is meant to be about animals in the real world, not in the digital world. So please try to stop adding pages to those category pages or maybe start removing them because they do not contribute to what we are aiming for in this community. Please comment below for any category pages that you aren't sure about and I will try to sort this out and hopefully I can release and list of category pages that aren't needed in my next blog post. This list will also include categories with incorrect grammar and punctuation Eg. animals of south africa instead of Animals of South Africa
Hey, I would like to become the newest administrator and bureaucrat. Animals and the fauna of earth is valuable to maintaining life on earth. And this wiki is basically a catalogue of all animals. However there are a few problems with the wiki that made me to write this. First, there has been an increasing surge of vandalism and I've found two now deleted vandalistic paragraphs on the sheep page. Twothly, this wiki has alot of admins that are inactive and only one admin is active daily and I think I can help the situation out a bit. Finally, this page lacks alot of pages on birds and insects and I want to grow this wiki. This wiki had a lot of time from its founding year 2009 to grow to a superwiki but it hasn't and this wiki needs to grow…
Just wondering if you don't know how to add photos or don't want to add photos to your own articles I could help out as long as you don't spam. They must have at least a simple infobox and a paragraph of text otherwise I may ignore it. Either send them to me or put the article in the category article that needs image. Obviously I would prefer not to do too many but if you really can't do it i can help but if you do know how to add images i wont bother, okay? Thanks in advance!!!!
I was wondering if jurassic park was a thing what dinosaur would you allow to come back from the grave, choose from the dinosaurs in jurassic world evolution, I have all the dlc packs so if I think yours is good I will add it to my park, just don't spam pls
Hi, it's Birds, your wiki admin/bureaucrat.
We're preparing for Halloween! You may notice a few changes on the wiki during the month of October. If you have any complaints about the wiki theme, simply contact me and I will change what is necessary.
Since the majority of our admins are inactive, I would like to assign new, more active sysops.
- Has been on this wiki for at least a month.
- Has made at least 100 edits.
- Has created at least 10 articles with at least two sources.
- Has interacted with other users.
Keep in mind that abuse and inactivity for more than a month shall result in the removal of your power.
- Human (Homo sapiens)
- Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus)
- Kermode Bear (Ursus americanus kermodei)
- Impala (Aepyceros melampus)
- Scarlet Macaw (Ara macao)

- Red Kangaroo (Macropus rufus)
- Honey Badger (Mellivora capensis)
- Secretarybird (Sagittarius serpentarius)

Hello! Call me Mr. Spikess, I run a small wiki for any prehistoric life called Prehistoric Wiki and would like to propose a sort of collaboration to help eachother out! For example would be postting links on eachothers sites on the mainpage. I think our topics go hand in hand as I cover extinct plants and animals and I feel we could really help eachother out. If any admins could take my proposal into consideration and reply i'd be more than happy.

I just created a new wiki. It's about extinct animals. Go to https://extinctanimals.fandom.com. If you want to be an administrator or moderator, just ask me in my message wall in the wiki.
So I live in Cebu from Philippines. In Oslob, they have whale shark watching. They first tell you what and what not to do before they go swimming. I've been there 2 times. It was awesome. They always feed the whale sharks shrimp. I think it's the only endangered marine animal I've ever seen.
Please stop creating new pages and take the time to expand existing articles. All new articles created in the month of November shall be deleted. Thank you!
Please do not add categories like The Simpsons Animals. No one needs that for research. No TV shows, stuffed animals, books, or anything like that should be made into a category. Go to another wiki if you want to research TV shows.
I know plenty about night herons, but I didn’t know exactly how they hunt until my boat tour today. Looking out the window, I saw a few adults standing as still as stone by the riverbank. At first, I mistook then for statues since they were standing so perfectly still, staring at the water for prey. Until one twitched I knew they were real. I saw a few more, both adults and juveniles along the way back to the dock.
recently, I've discovered a search engine called "Ecosia". Basically, it works just as google and other search engines work, but, for about every 45 searches, it plants a tree! now, you might be wondering "why are trees important?" well, here's why.
roughly every 45 searches, Ecosia uses at least 80% of its monthly profits to plant trees where they are needed most – in Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Peru, Indonesia, Morocco, Brazil, Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Tanzania and many more countries.
If your still confused, check out this video :)

During my walk this morning to the marketplace (I'm in China currently, on a vacation), I witnessed a lot of animal cruelty, in public. First were the exotic birds for sale, all mynas, kept in filthy cages and in horrible condition. Their plummage was dirty and unkept, and they were all clambering and screeching, trying to get to freedom. The water was yellow with dust particles in it. There was only one perch and little flight room. I have never seen worse livng conditions for a captive bird ever. I hope these birds find their freedom, where they belong.
The second was fish and other aquatic creatures for sale. They were kept in crowded bins with little water. Some were injured and sick. After a fish is bought, it is slammed to the ground …
Growing up with my parents they've gotten pets for me, my sister and generally the whole family to enjoy. Those being hamsters, a bunny, a lasoapso, a bearded dragon and my grandmother has fish. While I'm still living with them I will buy myself a spotted plecostomus and name it "Gambit". I'll also buy a Monsignifer Lancehead Viper which will be named "Skulls" once I'm capable of living on my own.
After finding out that plecostomus' will live up to twenty years. I have planned to keep Gambit for 2-3 years then transfer her to my grandmothers fish tank for 3-5 years. I'll then have arrange with my mothers side of the family in Poland to have Gambit last and permanently. By then she should have had a nice and lofty life enjoying herself and …
The reasons I speak for Canidae well some are emotional but some of them do a lot with the scientific stuff as I'm one of the people who care about the safety of wild canines. But understanding science isn't the only way I've had the luck to really understand wild canines with great insight some of my understanding does with seeing the similar issues the disabled class faces. It's the gray wolf I've understood since early childhood. But I understand that spirit animal, totem animals amd zodiac animals all do with your qualities so gray wolves aren't the only wild canine species to inspire me. I match mutliple species of wild canines because of my flexibity in attitude, plus with my compassion I have an easy time learning from wild canines,…
There are a lot of trash in this wiki, and me and Swiftbird82 will delete the pages that need to be, and block users that are trashing the wiki, so I can keep it nice and clean.
I would like to become an admin because this wiki needs one. I've researched animals for three years, and I believe I could improve this wiki by, say, deleting pages that need to be, filling in the blanks(quite a lot of the pages I've visited have them, including my own, but I'm going to improve them this weekend), answering questions. I would like to know if anyone supports or refuses my idea.
I'm a warrior. I got ninjitsu, bikenjutsu, skateboarding and even some command scores. One day I'll get a snake tattooed on me. But only after I am fully muscular. I've dedicated a good few years on wiki researching snakes and so I understand I'm the Monsignifer Lancehead Viper!
Hello, I'm writting this because my older sister and I are confused and hurt. We don't know the exact cause of this and we do not nor did not have enough money to go to a vet. Hamsters are probably not talked about here this much, but I'm trying to reach out to those few people who may know something. And of course, comfort is very much appriciated. Now, on to the main topic on hand:
My older sister's (and to a lesser extent mine) female dwarf hamster named Sunny, died early this morning. She's about a year and a half old and had 6 siblings (3 male, 3 female). Sunny was usually a nice hamster and for the most part behaved normally. Now, my sister LOVED this hamster to death. She tried to play with it everyday and gave her very much love. I…
These cats are as big as they come. I have not included any prehistoric cats in this list, as that is another blog post for another time. I also tried to make it so that there was only one entry per species, with the exception of the Lynx.

The most distinctive feature of this rather elusive cetacean is its distinctive humped appearance when it breaks the ocean’s surface to breathe (2). This is caused by the wide hump or ridge on the dolphin’s back, from which the dorsal fin emerges (3). The Atlantic humpbacked dolphin is a robust-bodied marine mammal (2), typically slate grey on the sides and back and light grey on the underside (3). It has a long, narrow, distinct beak (2) (3), broad flippers that are rounded at the tip, and a broad tail fin, deeply notched in the centre (2).
Hello all you biology enthusiasts! I, long before I knew about this wiki created one very simmilar, Life Wiki. If anyone is interested in helping out a very underapriciated wiki with a simmilar topic, feel free to join Life wiki (lifeform.wikia.com)
Hi, I tried to fix the "graffiti done to the Humans Page, so if anyone wants to look over it and see If I missed something, feel free to do so. Thanks!
Hi, I tried to fix the "graffitti" done to the Humans page, if anyone wants to look over it and see if I missed anything, please do so. Thank You.
I can't seem to figure out how to add photos to the infobox. Can someone help me please?
What animals would you consider for rewilding?
The Animal Database Wiki is a wonderful place, and I'd like to call for help with the Marine Wiki, whose admins are nowhere to be found. Please help me contribute here, an any help would be appreciated. Forgive me if this breaks any rules (advertising wiki), but I could not find any pages with rules on the wiki.

An amazing video with fascinating explanations of animal symbolism;
Hello everybody! I'm Jace (known as "Jak Himself"). I'm an experienced editor and administrator from the Jak and Daxter Wiki. I'm a herpetoculturalist, which basically means I enjoy learning about keeping herptiles (reptiles and amphibians). I breed veiled chameleons and have experience with a few other lizards and frogs, therefore my efforts will be focused on the "Reptiles and Amphibians" section of this wiki. :-)
I'm considering adopting the wiki once I make a few more edits that will be considered adoption-worthy. If any of the existing community wishes to discuss this topic below it would probably help in deciding whether or not this becomes successful.
I already have quite a few changes I would like to make when and if I become a promine…
Hai there, since there are so many wikis on animals out there, don't you guys agree that we affiliate with each other? That way, we could integrate between the users to visit other wiki that are also on animals topic.
These two wikis the those I'm currently editing at:
- Marine wiki
- This wiki focuses more on the marine life and habitats. I am also the admin here.
- Animal Central wiki
- Focuses on the domesticated animals (eg,cats and dogs). This is quite new wiki, any new users are welcome to contribute.
And these are other wiki that also on animals topic but seemingly inactive, just so someone might find interest.
- Animals wiki
- Dogs-Cats wiki
If the admin here would like to make an affiliation with the first two wiki, find me either on Marine Wiki or A…
My wiki needs users. It is small. It is the Ocean Creatures and More Wiki. You can find it here: www.oceancreatures.wikia.com/.
I am going to have a competition in which whoever creates the best animals wiki page wins. Obviously I can't give a prize but the winner will be granted the title of Best Wiki Contributor of the Week. When I say week I mean this will be a weekly thing so you will be given an opportunity to win! If you want to enter leave me a message saying which page you have created or highly edited. You can copy of Wikipedia or anywhere else, but when I say copy I don't mean copy and paste I mean hand typed. Thankyou
The title is kinda self explanatory. I figure a blog would be a great place to get the comunity involved in coming up with new ideas on how to improve the site and what needs to be done. Personally I think maybe an evolutionary tree would be useful but I'm not sure how that could be implemented. What are your ideas and suggestions?
