The black softshell turtle (Nilssonia nigricans) is a turtle that is extinct in the wild and was originally native to the Brahmaputra river. The black soft-shelled turtle is found in one pond, next to a religious shrine in Bangladesh. The last 400 turtles live on food given to them by visitors. To save this unique species, scientists are trying to protect the turtles from disease.
