The Asiatic Lion, or the Asian Lion, is a population Panthera Leo (Lion). The only place in the wild where this species is found is in the Gir Forest of Gujarat, India. Historically, however, it once roamed the majority of Western Asia, the Middle East, all the way up to Northern India.
Characteristics[]
The Asiatic lion's fur range from a ruddy-tawny in color, covered in black speckles, to a sandy or bluish-gray. The mane of the males are less developed than those of Africa, with only moderate growth at the top of the head, thus, their ears are often visible.
The shoulder height of males is around 107 to 120 cm and those of females 80 to 107 cm. The measurement of two lions' body length is both 1.98 m with a tail length of 0.79 to 0.89. Similar in size to the central African lion but generally smaller than others of Africa. Adult males weigh from 160 to 190 kg and females weighing from 110 to 120 kg.
