The Adélie Penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae) is a species of penguin that inhabits the Antarctica Penninsula, the Sheathland islands, and other circumpolar islands. Adélie penguins breed and raise their young on the continent of Antarctica. In September and October—springtime in that part of the world—thousands of Adélies gather on the rocky Antarctic shoreline. The huge gatherings are called colonies.

The Adelie Penguin is white on the belly and underside of the flippers and black on the back, head, front of the flippers. It had a short, stubby beak. It was about 28 inches tall. They create nests made out of rocks.

The Adelie penguin mainly eats fish and crustaceans.

It lives 10-15 years but has been known to live up to 20.
